Artistic Statement

Most of my choreographic inspiration comes from Musical Theater Jazz. I’m drawn to choreography that makes sense both in my mind and body, with movement that flows naturally and feels intentional. Working with lyrics that tell a pre-existing story helps me connect more deeply, as I can lean into the narrative and let it guide my choices. I also enjoy high-energy, beat-driven music, where I can build my own storyline and create a unique emotional connection. When I craft a story in mind, choreography feels natural, as if movement were my way of communication, and I share this is my classes.

When I choreograph, I gravitate toward high-energy, sharp routines with powerful unison and confident facials. I love crafting moments where dancers move as one while still radiating intensity. I also believe lip-syncing is unnecessary in Musical Theater dance, as facial expressions and movement dynamics can effectively tell the story.

At the start of my creative process, I spend time listening to music, often while driving, until I find a song that inspires me. I map out key musical moments and visualize groupings. I arrive with pre-set choreography that I later adjust to highlight the dancers’ strengths to craft the most successful routine.

Ultimately, my choreography centers on storytelling, musicality, and intentional movement. I strive to create pieces that feel natural, emotionally driven, and unified, communicating a clear story with both dancers and audiences.
